CLUB MEETING – OCTOBER 2

A final planning meeting for our club hosting the fall council dance is scheduled for Sunday, October 2, at Cascade Pizza at 852 West State Route 20 in west Sedro-Woolley.  We will gather at 5 pm to order our dinner and start the meeting about 5:30 or so.  Committee assignments will be confirmed with times for setting up on Friday announced.  Stage set up will begin at 4 pm.  Arrival times on Saturday (10/29) will be confirmed for finalizing the set up and preparing for the dancers to arrive.

The decoration committee will hold their own meeting after the club meeting breaks up.  President Gini would like the decoration committee folks to bring their decorations to determine what we have.  The exception will be our large saddle decorations but a physical inventory is a must.  It is important that we have a good count on the available saddles.

NEW DANCER PROGRAM UNDERWAY – OCTOBER 4

The Tuesday evening new dancer program is underway at 7 pm at the Mount Vernon Senior Center.  Our excellent group of about 15 newcomers are receiving good support from our angels.  It is best to dance with our newcomers and get to know them.  Folks who have danced in the past and need a refresher may join us anytime.

EVERYTHING APPLES DANCE - OCTOBER 14

The MT. BAKER SINGLES will hold an “Everything Apples Dance” on October 14 at the Skagit Valley Grange.  Dave Harry will provide us with a square dance workshop at 7:30 pm.  At 8 pm Dave will be calling and cueing. The Fogcutters will be traveling in.

In keeping with our theme, we encourage all refreshment items to include some form of apples.  Bring your favorite apple refreshment to share and enjoy some lively dancing too!

Greeters: John & Rosie Hayes                                          Kitchen: Mike & Kathleen McCalib

DANCE LOCALLY – OCTOBER 15

With our focus on hosting the council dance on October 29, we have no official caravans this month.  For this month your editors suggest dancing locally on October 15 with the Skagit Squares to keep traveling to a minimum.

BOARD MEETING – OCTOBER 18

Our club board meets at 6 pm at the Mount Vernon Senior Center.  Join us!

SETTING UP FOR COUNCIL DANCE – OCTOBER 28

On Friday, October 28, at 4 pm the stage will be set up.  Decorating of the Stanwood Middle School will be accomplished this evening also.

MOUNT BAKER COUNCIL DANCE – OCTOBER 29

Our Mt. Baker Singles club is hosting the Mt. Baker Council “Round ’em Up, Square ’em Up” Dance on Saturday, October 29, at Stanwood Middle School, 9405 271st Street NW, Stanwood.  Dance times are 7 pm for pre-rounds with MS square dancing from 7:30 to 10 pm. Brent Mawdsley and Scott Coon will be calling with Debbie Taylor cueing. Western outfits are encouraged but optional. John Hayes and Gini have tickets for $8 presale.  Tickets at the door will be $10.  A “No Experience Dancer Hall” will be available so bring your beginner friends to have them give it a try for $5. Refreshments will be provided by the Stanwood Middle School PTO as a fund raiser.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS AVAILABLE

Mt. Baker Council is selling Entertainment Books as a fund raiser again.  The North Puget Sound and Seattle books have been combined into one book for $25 this year.  This is a real bargain!  Lois Cassidy has books to review.

DO YOU WANT TO BE DRAFTED?

V. P. John & Candy Johnson are looking for volunteers for greeters, kitchen staff and clean up/close up duty for our monthly dances.  Or do you want to be drafted?  The “DUTY ROSTER” is available on Tuesday evenings and at our monthly dances for signing up.
